In 1982, China authorized the mint of Legal Tender Bullion Coins featuring the Giant Panda, China's most famous, lovable bear. The world famous panda is one of the most noticeable rare animals in the world. It is loved for it's peculiar fur color, unique image, natural appearance, meek temperament and funny actions. There remains only a few in the southwest region of China.
These coins were created with the intent for coin collectors and investors, but they were still legal tender.
