Hawaii Dala

Kamehameha the Great is honored throughout Hawaii for uniting the Hawaiian Islands in 1795. He proved to be a wise and gifted ruler and became a true father to his people. His famous statue is prominently displayed King Kalakaua was known as the "Merry Monarch" for his music and the Hawaiian Renaissance he brought to his island nation. He revived the hula, built Iolani Palace, was the first reigning monarch to travel around the world and issued Hawaii's only silver coinage in 1883

The Hawaii Dala is not US Government nor the Federal Reserve Bank Money in any way and is not "legal tender" or a "coin". Both terms legally mean "government made or authorized" money.

History:
Queen Liliuokalani was the last reigning monarch of the Hawaiian islands. She felt her mission was to preserve the islands for their native residents. In 1898, Hawaii was annexed to the United States and Queen Liliuokalani was forced to give up her throne.

History:
Princess Victoria Kaiulani became second in line to the Hawaiian throne when her uncle, David Kalakaua, became king. She became the crown pricess, and first in line for the throne when her aunt Lydia Liliuoklanai became queen in 1891. The princess never became queen herself because her aunt was deposed, the Hawaiian Monarchy was overthrown, and Hawaii was annexed by the United States. Princess Kaiulani died about a year after the annexation at the age of 23. Some people believe she died of a broken heart.
